NFL Preseason Picks Week 2: Jaguars vs Lions, Bills vs Steelers, Patriots vs Packers and Chiefs vs Cardinals
The NFL preseason is off to a great start, and I must admit that I was extremely excited as I tuned in to watch most of the matches last weekend. Just yesterday, we were treated to an exciting matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Cleveland Browns. However, there are many more games lined up for this upcoming weekend. In this NFL Preseason Picks Week 2 article, I’ll try my best to tell you which games to watch and where to find good odds for your bets this weekend.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Detroit Lions (Saturday, Aug 19th)
The Jacksonville Jaguars kicked off the preseason in impressive fashion, securing a commanding 28-23 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. Firstly, I must highlight the outstanding performance of their quarterback, Nathan Rourke, who executed his role exceptionally. Secondly, the Jaguars’ defence appeared noticeably improved compared to their performance in last year’s preseason. Notably, for this upcoming match, the Jaguars will be without Sammis Reyes, Dawuane Smoot, Henry Mondeaux, and Leonard Taylor.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions enjoyed a strong start by securing a victory in their opening match against the New York Giants, finishing with a score of 21-16. While it’s evident that the Giants made several mistakes, the Lions demonstrated their ability to capitalize on these errors effectively. Notably, for the upcoming match, the Lions will be missing key players such as Emmanuel Moseley, Trey Quinn, and Hendon Hooker.
The previous encounter between these two teams took place in December 2022, resulting in a victory for the Detroit Lions with a score of 40-14. This upcoming game will be held at the Lions’ stadium. However, I think that the Jacksonville Jaguars will win.
My pick: The Jacksonville Jaguars to win this game with a point spread of -3.5 (-112 at BetDukes).

Buffalo Bills vs Pittsburgh Steelers (Saturday, Aug 19th)
The Bills started the preseason on a strong note by securing a victory against the Colts by 23-19. Despite the absence of Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs, the Bills managed to perform exceptionally well against a formidable opponent. In the upcoming match, I anticipate that Josh Allen will see some playing time, while Von Miller will be absent due to an injury.
On the other hand, the Pittsburgh Steelers also had a promising start to the preseason, securing a victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a score of 27-17. Their strategic use of a young squad proved to be a wise decision, playing a crucial role in their success. Regrettably, Renell Wren will be unavailable due to injury for the upcoming match.
The most recent encounter between these two teams took place in October 2022, with the Buffalo Bills securing a dominant win over the Pittsburgh Steelers with a score of 38-3. The forthcoming game is set to be hosted at the Pittsburgh Steelers stadium. Potentially adding an extra layer of challenge for them. If I had to pick a team, I would go with the Buffalo Bills.
My pick: The Buffalo Bills with a point spread of -1 (-104 at BetOBet).

New England Patriots vs Green Bay Packers (Saturday, Aug 19th)
Things didn’t get off to a great start for the New England Patriots, as they suffered a loss in their first preseason match against the Houston Texans, with a final score of 20-9. While the preseason is traditionally a time for teams to field new and young players to learn and gain experience, it appears that the Patriots will need to exert considerable effort to regain the level they held in previous years when Tom Brady was still with the team.
In contrast, the Green Bay Packers got off to a strong start with a victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, finishing with a score of 36-10. Notably, this game marked the first time they played without their star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who departed for the New York Jets. Stepping into Rodgers’ role, Jordan Love performed remarkably well, completing 7 out of 10 passes in that match.
The upcoming game is scheduled to take place at the Green Bay Packers stadium, and if I were to choose a winner, my preference would be the Packers. In their most recent encounter, which occurred in October of the previous year, the Packers emerged victorious with a final score of 27-24.
My pick: The Green Bay Packers with a point spread of -2.5 (-110 at iBet).

Kansas City Chiefs vs Arizona Cardinals (Saturday, Aug 19th)
The reigning champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, didn’t start the preseason on the right foot, suffering a loss in their initial match against the Saints with a score of 26-24. However, the absence of most of their key players meant that the outcome wasn’t a major surprise, at least not for me. Despite a less-than-stellar performance from Chris Oladokun, the Kansas City Chiefs managed to showcase a strong offence. A certainty for the next game is that Patrick Mahomes will likely have an increased playing time.
Meanwhile, the Arizona Cardinals kicked off the preseason with a strong start, securing a victory against the Denver Broncos in their opening match with a score of 18-17. The Cardinals displayed an impressive game, with their defence performing exceptionally well. Unfortunately, Kyler Murray won’t be able to play due to an injury for this upcoming match.
The most recent encounter between these two teams took place in September of last year, with the Kansas City Chiefs securing a victory with a score of 44-21. This time, the game is scheduled to be played at the Cardinals’ stadium. It’s hard to predict the outcome of this match, however, I would go with the Kansas City Chiefs to win.
My pick: The Kansas City Chiefs to win this game with a point spread of -7.5 (-110 at iBet).
