Carolina Panthers vs Las Vegas Raiders (Sunday, Sep 22th)
The Panthers are off to a rough start this season, still searching for their first win. After dropping their opener to the Saints, they followed up with another defeat, this time against the Los Angeles Chargers. On the ground, the Panthers’ rushing attack has been underwhelming, averaging just 74 yards per game, with Chuba Hubbard emerging as their leading rusher, posting 78 yards on 16 carries. Defensively, the Panthers have struggled mightily, allowing 36.5 points and 364 yards per contest, a major factor in their current winless record. They now find themselves at the bottom of the NFC South with a 0-2 record, and their prospects aren’t looking much brighter heading into their next matchup.
Meanwhile, the Raiders have fared slightly better, coming off an unexpected and thrilling 26-23 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. In a game where few gave them a chance, the Raiders showed resilience and grit, moving to 1-1 on the season. Currently sitting in third place in the highly competitive AFC West, the Raiders’ ground game has struggled to find consistency, averaging just 49 yards per game, with Zamir White leading the charge with 68 yards on 22 carries. Defensively, they’ve been sturdier, allowing 22.5 points and 349.5 yards per game.
Heading into this matchup, it’s hard to envision the Panthers breaking out of their slump, especially on the road, where they’ve been particularly ineffective. The last time these two teams met was in September 2020, when the Raiders edged out a 34-30 victory.
