Cleveland Browns vs Jacksonville Jaguars (Sunday, Sep 15th)
The Cleveland Browns didn’t get off to the start they hoped for in Week 1, falling to the Dallas Cowboys 33-17. I have to admit, I was expecting more from this team, particularly from quarterback Deshaun Watson. His performance was underwhelming, and if the Browns want to turn things around in Week 2, Watson will need to step up. More critically, the Browns’ offensive line must improve—protection issues plagued them throughout the game, and without better execution up front, it’s hard to see them making much headway.
On the other side, the Jacksonville Jaguars were, in my opinion, the most disappointing team in Week 1. After jumping out to a 14-0 lead against the Miami Dolphins at home, they squandered that advantage, ultimately losing 20-17. This collapse underscores the Jaguars’ lack of maturity and experience, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. If they want to compete this season, the defense will have to tighten up significantly. That said, Trevor Lawrence did manage 162 passing yards and tossed one touchdown, showing glimpses of his potential.
Looking ahead to this week’s matchup, I’m leaning towards the Jaguars. However, if they’re to avoid a repeat of last week’s mistakes, they’ll need to maintain their composure and avoid the second-half lapses that cost them against Miami. The last time these two teams faced off was in December 2023, with the Browns edging out a 31-27 victory.
