It’s been over seven months since we last witnessed the Kansas City Chiefs triumphing in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, they are set to host the first game of the regular season in their home stadium against the Detroit Lions. Kansas City Chiefs vs. Detroit Lions (TNF Sep 7th)
The Kansas City Chiefs enter this match as the clear favourites, and it’s not surprising why. After winning the AFC West division last season, the Chiefs clinched an impressive Super Bowl victory against the Eagles, and this year, they are once again the front-runners. However, they’ll face significant challenges as many other teams have improved this year. During the preseason, they performed well despite resting most of their key players. They suffered a loss to the New Orleans Saints in the first match but secured victories against the Arizona Cardinals and the Cleveland Browns in the following two.
On the other hand, the Detroit Lions are coming into this match very confident after a great preseason. They won their matches against the New York Giants and the Carolina Panthers and only lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars. For this season, their main goal is to go to the playoffs as they have missed them for a very long time.Ā
For this match, I have to go with the Kansas City Chiefs to win it. Not only they are playing in their home stadium, but they are the best team in the NFL at the moment so I really canāt see the Detroit Lions winning this one. It’s also worth mentioning that Patrick Mahomes will be playing from the start, which is great news for the Chiefs.
