Gates of Olympus is another great online slot from Pragmatic Play that has a number of interesting features. It is also one of the most popular slot games in Canada, in the top 5 in many rankings. Pragmatic Play released this game in February 2021 and it is still gaining fans today. The slot has the ever-popular Greek mythology theme and boasts a potential max win of 5000x. Let’s learn more about it in our Gates of Olympus slot review.

RTP and Wagering

Gates of Olympus is a 6×5 slot game with the Pay Anywhere or All Ways engine. This means that it is a tumbling reels game and does not have any set paylines. All you need to do to get a winning combination is land 8 or more matching symbols anywhere on the reels. If you get a winning amount of symbols those will disappear from the reels and be replaced with more symbols that tumble from above to take their place. If you keep getting wins the new symbols will keep tumbling down and add their value to the total win amount. The next spin will not occur until there are no winning combinations. The bet level ranges from $0.25c per spin to $100 per spin. You can select the number of coins per payline and the coin value.

Like all other Pragmatic Play slot games, Gates of Olympus also has an Autoplay function. You can choose between 10 to 100 spins and you can stop the autoplay if your balance decreases or increases by a set amount. The layout is simple, easy to understand, and matches all other Pragmatic Play games. There is also a selection for quick spins or turbo spins. We always recommend turning these off if it is the first time you are playing a particular slot. If you are more familiar with the slot game then you can go ahead and activate the turbo spin mode. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that when you play using the faster modes you can drain your bankroll very quickly so it is always a good idea to set a limit.

Gates of Olympus Base Game

Gate of Olympus has an RTP of 96.5% which is higher than the industry average of 96%. It also has maximum volatility making this game potentially very rewarding or very greedy. However, it does have a potential 5,000x stake max win, which is quite tempting.

Symbols and Audio & Video Design

The Gates of Olympus symbols are all inspired by Greek Mythology and other royalty-like imagery. A lot of the symbols are different gems, a chalice, a jewelled ring, an hourglass, and a gold crown. Coupled with the in-game animations and the very energetic soundtrack, this is a slot game that wants to keep the adrenaline flowing. Since the main character is a Zeus-like figure holding a lightning bolt, this fits in with the power the game is trying to evoke. One thing to note about this online slot is that there is no wild symbol. The Zeus symbol is the scatter symbol and it also triggers the free spin bonus round.

The Gates of Olympus background is quite simple compared to some other games. The reels spin on simple purple background framed by golden filigree. On the left-hand side of the reels, there is the Buy Free Spins pane, where you can purchase free spins. There is also the Ante Bet feature. We will discuss these in more detail below. On the right-hand side of the reels, there is a floating Zeus who sometimes grabs a lightning bolt and triggers a multiplier.

Gates of Olympus Paytable

Check the table below to see a full description of the different symbols and their corresponding payouts. Since this is an All Ways game all the payouts depend on how many symbols appear. If there are 8 or 9 symbols it will trigger the lowest payout. 10 to 11 symbols trigger the medium payout, and anything about 12 symbols triggers the max payout. This is valid for all symbols except the scatter symbol.

Mobile Features

Like all other contemporary slot games, Gates of Olympus was developed to include all casino players and be as convenient as possible. This means that Pragmatic Play had mobile users as well as desktop players in mind. The game has all features regardless of device.

One thing you should always keep in mind if you are playing an online slot game on your mobile device is to keep your charger nearby. Games tend to use quite a lot of the battery capacity, and you do not want the phone to run out if you are on a winning run.

Bonus Features

Gate of Olympus featured quite a few bonus features, especially since it is a tumble slot. It also has a few interesting Bonus Buy features and an Ante Bet feature. This game is stocked with potential bonuses and boosts. In combination with the high volatility, this makes it quite an exciting slot to play. Let’s describe all the bonus features in more detail.

Tumble Feature

As we mentioned above, when you get enough symbols to trigger a win those symbols will disappear and more symbols will tumble from above. Theoretically, this can continue happening indefinitely triggering more wins. The tumble stops until there are no more winning combinations.

Gates of Olympus Tumble Feature

Multiplier Feature

Floating Zeus, on the right-hand side of the reels, will randomly activate and while clutching a lightning bolt he will throw a winged orb onto the reels which will trigger a multiplier. The multiplier can be between 2x to 500x.

Gates of Olympus Multiplier Feature

Free Spins feature

You trigger the Free Spins bonus game by getting four or more Zeus scatter symbols. First, you will get a win depending on how many scatters you get. The free spins game takes place on the same reels as the base game. The free spins game always starts with 15 free spins. The great thing about the free spins game is that any multipliers that you get become cumulative throughout the bonus game. Also, if you get three or more scatter symbols during this mode it will add an extra 5 free spins to your remaining total. There is no limit to how many free spins you can get if you keep landing scatters.

Gates of Olympus Online Slot Free Spins Rounds

Ante Bet Feature

You can activate the Ante Bet Feature whenever you wish between spins. This will increase your bet amount by 25 coins per spin. In return, the amount of scatter symbols added to the reels increases. This means that your chances of triggering the bonus game increase as well.

Gates of Olympus Jackpot

The Gates of Olympus does not have a jackpot, but it mitigates this by offering a high potential max win, a tumble feature, and lots of free spins. While we were playing the game we managed to trigger plenty of wins and multipliers. Once we got into the free spins game we were able to increase our bankroll by 10%. Keep in mind that this was only our one specific experience while playing the game, it does not mean you will win.

But it is apparent that the big wins in this game will happen in the free spins bonus round. Taking this into consideration, it might make sense to activate the Ante Bet feature so that you could try to get into the free spins quickly. However, this is a high volatility game and you could lose your funds really quickly. Always keep track of your spending and do not spend more than you can afford to lose.

Biggest Wins

Since Gates of Olympus is not a progressive jackpot game you will not find any huge million-dollar wins to speak of. However, depending on your bet level this is a game where you can potentially win a few thousand dollars. Our biggest win while playing the game at the max bet level was around $10,000. Always play responsibly.

Gates of Olympus Summary

Gates of Olympus is a fun game but it has a lot of similarities with other Pragmatic Play games which might have better features, most especially Sweet Bonanza. However, it might be this simpler way of playing which makes Gates of Olympus such a popular slot. Although there are a lot of bonus features, the game is quite simple and it is all about getting into the free spins rounds so that you can get the bigger wins. The visuals are simple and there should not be anything that distracts you from the main game. The tumbling wins can give some good yields and adds another layer of fun to the game. If you have not tried it out yet, we recommend you give it a shot.
