Unibet is being fined by AGCO
The online gambling company Unibet is being fined by AGCO (Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario).
This has happened due to the fact that they broke the regulations of the gambling commission in Ontario by incentivizing and promoting “generous welcome offers” for Canadian players.
The offending adverts were allegedly reported between the 19th and 22nd of May 2022. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario has issued the company with a penalty of CAD$48,000.
The AGCO is very explicit about its rules when it comes to the prohibition and inducements of gambling advertisements, which should only happen after the player’s consent.
After the incident, the chief executive of AGCO said, “We expect all registered operators to achieve and maintain the high standards of responsible gambling, player protection and game integrity.”
The gambling company is going to appeal against the judgment with an independent tribunal in Ontario.
