How will the fight play out?
It really shouldn’t be a big surprise to see Dustin Poirier as the underdog in this fight. Over the years, he has consistently been one of the best fighters in the UFC, and for me, he is undoubtedly one of the greatest. However, he will once again be fighting against a tremendous grappler who is the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world, so he will have to work hard if he wants to win this fight.
On the flip side, Islam is like a 2.0 version of Khabib with better striking ability, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to see him as the favorite to win this fight, given that he holds two belts. I think it’s easy to see how this fight will play out. From the start, I believe that Islam will try to control the fight from the center of the octagon and grapple as soon as possible, while Dustin will aim to strike and avoid being taken down. With this in mind, I have a feeling we might see something special from Dustin, like a knockout in the third round. Of course, it’s hard to predict that, but Islam’s confidence might present some challenges.
