The US Open is back, and I must say that it is one of my favourite competitions in the world. Last year, Carlos Alcaraz emerged victorious in the men’s singles, while Iga Swiatek secured the women’s title. As we look to this year’s event, numerous candidates have the potential to claim the US Open championship, and this article will delve into their prospects. Favourites to Win 

Men’s Competition

Another noteworthy player deserving our attention is the Russian sensation, Daniil Medvedev, who has consistently held a top 3 ranking in the past few years. He defied expectations by capturing the US Open title in 2021, and if he manages to replicate his performance from that year, I am convinced he stands a strong chance of winning once again.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to see Iga Swiatek as the number-one favourite to win the US Open once again, having secured the trophy last year. It was against Ons Jabeur that the Polish player triumphed in a memorable match. Of course, it’s very rare to see the same player winning the trophy two straight times. The last player to achieve this was Naomi Osaka, who won in both 2020 and 2018.

Another intriguing player to watch is Elena Rybakina, entering this tournament with confidence following her Wimbledon victory in July of this year.
