As we look ahead to this year, it appears that we can anticipate a plethora of surprises once again. 10 Teams that probably won’t make it to the playoffs next season
Las Vegas Raiders
After such a disappointing season, it seems highly unlikely for the Las Vegas Raiders to make it to the playoffs next season without making significant improvements. Their last playoff appearance in 2021 ended in a disappointing exit at the Wild Card Round, and it has been quite some time since this team demonstrated strong performance on the field. Given these circumstances, I find it difficult to envision the Raiders making a playoff run in the upcoming season.
Denver Broncos
After enduring a dreadful season that ranks among their worst in history, there is little reason to believe that the Denver Broncos will secure a playoff spot next season. Their last appearance in the playoffs dates back to the 2015-2016 season when they clinched a Super Bowl victory. Since then, their performance has been lacklustre, culminating in a forgettable season last year. To avoid repeating their abysmal performance, the team will need to dedicate themselves to intensive work and substantial improvements in many areas.
Houston Texans
The Houston Texans, coming off a dismal season, face significant challenges in their quest for a playoff berth next season. Given their performance, it’s difficult to envision them even securing a top-three spot in their division. Their most recent playoff appearance dates back to 2019 when they were eliminated in the divisional round. Furthermore, it is worth noting that the Texans have yet to win a Super Bowl in their franchise history.
Indianapolis Colts
I have reservations about the Indianapolis Colts’ ability to reach the playoffs next season. Their most recent postseason appearance was in 2020, where they fell short in the Wild Card Round. While it’s always possible for them to defy expectations, I still find it unlikely that they possess the calibre needed to secure a playoff spot. However, only time will tell if they can prove me wrong.
Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders find themselves in one of the NFL’s most challenging divisions, alongside formidable teams such as the Eagles, Cowboys, and Giants. Given the fierce competition within their division, it comes as no surprise that the Commanders are unlikely to make the playoffs next season. Their quality of play has declined over the years, making their path to the postseason even more daunting. Their last playoff appearance occurred in 2020 when they were eliminated in the Wild Card Round.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
With the departure of Tom Brady, widely regarded as the greatest of all time in American football, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers face a significant challenge. It is difficult for me to envision them making a playoff run unless they find a quarterback who can match Brady’s level of performance, which seems highly unlikely. Although the Buccaneers managed to reach the playoffs last year, their journey ended in a Wild Card round loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Considering everything that has been said, I don’t think they will make it to the playoffs in the upcoming season.Ā
Cleveland Browns
After another disappointing season, it appears highly unlikely for the Cleveland Browns to secure a playoff spot in the upcoming season, given the perceived lack of quality within the team. Their most recent playoff appearance was in 2020, where their postseason journey was short-lived. These circumstances contribute to the scepticism surrounding their ability to make a significant playoff push.
Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons face significant challenges in their quest for a playoff berth, as they currently lack both the necessary quality and experience. Their last appearance in the playoffs dates back to 2017, when they fell short in the Divisional round. In the previous season, they finished at the bottom of their division, leaving one to wonder about the reasons behind their struggles.
Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals’ most recent playoff appearance was in 2021, but since then, the team has struggled to maintain its previous level of performance. Finishing at the bottom of the NFC West last season, it is difficult to foresee significant improvement this year and I really donāt think they will make it to the playoffs this upcoming season.
Detroit Lions
Although the Detroit Lions had a relatively decent season last year, finishing in second place in the NFC North, I remain sceptical about their playoff prospects this year. The team seems to lack the necessary experience and quality required to reach that stage. It is also worth noting that their last playoff appearance was in 2016, where they were unable to advance past the Seattle Seahawks in the first round.
